What are we learning this year?

Unit 1

In this unit, you will learn about light and sound's properties as energy.

You will learn that light is a form of energy and it has specific properties.
You will learn how light travels and how it interacts when it strikes an object.
You will learn that sound is a form of energy, its properties, and how it is produced.
You will learn how sound travels and how people use it for communication.

Unit 2

In this unit, you will be learning about the water cycle and weather and climate patterns.

You will learn about Earth's atmosphere.
You will learn about the water cycle and its relationship to weather patterns.
You will learn the different types of clouds and how they help us predict the weather.
You will learn how meteorologists predict and record weather patterns. You will also learn why this is important.
You will learn about different types of severe weather.

Unit 3

In this unit, you will learn the locations, movements, and patterns of stars and objects in the solar system.

You will learn about our solar system.
You will learn about stars, planets, moons, and so much more.
You will learn about the movement of the sun, earth, and moon and the patterns we can observe and predict.

Unit 4

In this unit, you will learn how the structural characteristics and traits of plants and animals allow them to survive, grow, and reproduce.

You will learn about the lifecycle of organisms.
You will learn about inherited traits and learned behaviors.
You will learn how organisms gather information about their environment and the adaptations that help them survive.
